In episode 176 Lisa dives into the one of the red flags she sees in clients. The inability to receive from themselves and from others.
Often we've grown up with messages about the importance of giving and being generous, yet it's rarely modelled how to receive. From compliments, to gifts to even giving yourself time, your discomfort in receiving points to a much bigger issue that most aren't aware of.
Today's episode will give you a new perspective on the importance of receiving just as much as giving. They are opposite energies of the same stream and both deserve equal attention. You can't have more in life if you aren't willing to also look at your willingness or unwillingness to receive.

In episode 174 Lisa shares her personal story of the impact of the emotional trauma she experienced in 2021. Trauma is defined as "a deeply distressing or disturbing experience" and although many of us hear the word trauma and think about things like assault, accidents or the death of someone we love, trauma is experienced in many more ways.
What's fascinating is how your body and your brain respond to trauma and how un-felt emotion is stored in the body, often resulting in disease and illness. In this episode, Lisa shares the physical impact the Canadian pandemic rules have had on her and the moment when she experienced what she can now see as trauma. You'll learn how she unlocked what was happening in her brain with the help of her friend and colleague Jake Currie and how you can go back in time to discover what might be causing any pain you're experiencing in your body.
It's time to discover what is possible when you go beyond what you think the problem is and be curious about what else might be preventing you from feeling your best.

Breathing keeps us alive. We do it on autopilot. But beyond that, what I’ve really noticed in both myself and many of my clients is that so many of us walk around like we’re holding our breath. With the climate of the world the way it is, we’ve normalized stress and it often shows up in our bodies this way.
That brings me to my special guest today on episode 172, Miyako Hazama. She caught my eye in one of the groups we’re in together because she’s a breath expert. In this episode, we have a conversation about how we can use our breath to help us heal ourselves, from the inside out.
1:44 - A little background on Miyako and what led to her work
7:45 - What Miyako’s breathing technique for healing is all about
13:20 - How breath can bring your nervous system back online
19:06 - Where to start with your breathing so you can see what calm feels like in your body
24:44 - A visualization to help you practice Miyako’s breathing technique
29:50 - How this breathing technique literally changed one woman from the inside out
31:42 - Breathing out what isn’t useful and why I wanted to talk with someone with a solid background in breathwork
39:02 - The power of breathwork to help ease you through menopause and the aging process
46:00 - The difference in using Miyako’s breathing technique as part of your self-love practice
Find out more about Miyako’s breathing technique and Energetic Life Design at her website.

In episode 171 Lisa shares her most recent ski trip and lessons in parenting her perfectionist, high achiever 10-year-old.
How often do you steal someone's opportunity to save themselves because you're jumping in to help? This can happen frequently with our kids, but how much are we robbing them of the ability to be resilient if we're always there to figure it out for them and with them?
There is so much to be learned by allowing ourselves and others to be in the "suck" of not being good at something. To embrace the discomfort of not being where you want to be, but learning how to show up for ourselves with compassion and kindness.

In episode 170 Lisa shares a lesson she learned when her youngest son Jake was just 5 about expectations.
Nothing quite like getting the training wheels off only to be thrust into oncoming traffic to realize that maybe those expectations were a bit unrealistic.
Do you often set the bar so high that you struggle to feel successful, or fulfilled, or simply happy?
Are you always reaching for more, but then telling yourself that you should already be there by now?
Today's episode will challenge you to look at where you can lower the bar, so you can achieve more and allow space for more compassion, empathy and understanding.

In episode 168 Lisa reflects on world events and what you can do to support your emotional well-being. Now more than ever before, you're going to want to have as many tools as possible to navigate life and remain at peace. Mastering where you're holding your attention and being able to shift yourself into a more empowered way of being is a game changer. It's ok to unplug, take time to get yourself grounded and feeling more at ease even when horrible things are happening in other parts of the world. It's also ok to question what's happening around the world and be curious about what perspectives you might be missing based on your context.

I’ve been wanting to bring my special guest today onto this podcast for a while. I’ve independently coached Israel and his wife, Belinda (of The Root Cause, who’s also been on the show before). They’ve both been a joy to coach, and Israel in particular has seen amazing growth and transformation.
He’s a well-being and emotional resilience coach and speaker who works with dads in business and leadership roles. In episode 167, we talk a bit about his personal transformation and how he’s supporting men, specifically dads, in navigating their mental and emotional health.
4:55 - The unusual diagnosis that propelled Israel onto his transformational journey
8:22 - How Israel started turning his dire situation around
10:06 - Events over the last three years that could have derailed him
16:18 - How women can inadvertently contribute to their partners’ depression
22:03 - The co-dependency of Israel’s marriage when we started working together and how things turned around
27:54 - The shifts I’ve seen in both Israel and Belinda through coaching them as individuals
30:36 - Israel getting the kick in the pants he needed to start pursuing his desire to coach men
33:10 - Why Israel hesitated to leave The Root Cause behind and build his own separate business
35:38 - An analogy to help you tell the difference between codependent vs. healthy relationships
45:08 - An easy request to you, the listener, to pay it forward
