The problem you think you have isn’t the problem you actually have. I’ve often said that on this podcast. And the journey that my client and guest today, Laurie-Ann Murabito, took from reformed painfully shy girl to accidental professional speaker illustrates it well. 4:01 - Re-defining the speaker role beyond booking the stage
7:18 - How letting go of perfectionist tendencies can change you
13:33 - The difference in how Laurie-Ann responds to negative self-talk since we started working together
14:51 - How perfectionist tendencies trapped Laurie-Ann in a pattern of procrastination in her business
18:43 - Beware of succumbing to either extreme end of the Disney princess syndrome
24:34 - Helping other women step into their stories and leadership roles as speakers
30:22 - Why I’ve learned to be detached to the outcome of anything I do in my business
32:19 - Laurie-Ann’s in-depth plans to support and work with clients this year

What comes up whenever you hear the word “discipline”? Do images of drill sergeants dance in your head? Do your hackles raise up?
I’ve had an interesting dance with the concept of discipline over the years. I used to love it... until I went through a stage that caused me to hate the very mention of it.
Now I’m back to a place where I see discipline as the most loving thing I can give myself. In this episode, I talk about that history, cover how discipline ties into your view of yourself, and illustrate why it’s nothing more than a word with whatever connotation you choose to give it.
1:59 - Our dichotomous relationship with discipline
4:21 - How your body can still respond to stress even if you don’t feel stressed
7:14 - The time I wanted nothing to do with discipline
9:22 - How I tried to take the edge out of the word “discipline”
11:08 - The benefits that discipline gives me and how I embrace it in my life now
13:45 - Looking at the stories you’ve given to specific words

In this episode, I dive into the massive problem many givers and over givers have with the flip side of giving. 3:52 - How the way you receive affects the way you give as well
6:16 - Realizing when you’re fighting for your limitations

In Canada and the U.S., the season of giving started in early October: giving candy to strangers and thanks to our fortunes over the past year. Now, the season of giving is about to be cranked up for everyone with the addition of giving gifts to loved ones and money to good causes.
In this re-released episode, I want to unpack the perils of giving to the point of exhaustion, frustration, anger, and resentment. Women especially get caught in this cycle of giving as a way of showing love and demonstrating that everyone and everything comes before we do. Instead, let’s talk about shifting your energy and giving from a place of love, not lack.
4:40 - Why women operate from a place of martyrdom
6:42 - The client who was conditioned to hand her worthiness over to someone else
8:03 - How a kid’s book demonstrates what I see wrong about the belief women have about our value
11:03 - Reading a post from a private group that sparked an earth-shattering “aha!” moment
13:48 - The root of giving all of your love away to others and how it robs you
16:52 - What do love and a chocolate fountain have in common?
18:09 - How the discomfort you might feel in putting yourself first helps you grow

The concept of commitment is an interesting beast. It’s never something I’ve struggled with personally. I’m a pretty committed person, and it actually isn’t a problem for many people. What I find most of my clients struggling with is overcommitment. They become so driven for success that they overdue it. So in this episode, I want to address how I’ve created success for myself by being 100% committed to a lot less.
3:20 - How I’m being very committed to being non-committed
6:59 - Where I see so many people run into problems with overcommitment
8:17 - The key component to following through on your commitments
10:06 - What to do if you’re struggling to achieve your goal(s) despite being so committed
11:37 - Why I see discipline as an act of self-love
13:42 - Is it a commitment problem or an impatience problem?
16:26 - A way to achieve what you want that goes against conventional wisdom
