Have you ever thought about what it looks like to slow down? Or why so many of us want to avoid it? I used to be the kind of person who refused to slow down. Hopefully, it’ll help you uncover some things about yourself too, especially if you’re the really driven, ambitious type.

Do you tend to go off the deep end when things don’t go the way you want when you want them? Life rarely goes according to plan. I used to lose my shit when something went wrong in my day, but these days I live from a place where everything will always work out even when things look dicey.
Sometimes, though, when things aren’t working it can be a challenge to get yourself back into that space. So in this episode, I want to talk about how to trust in yourself and the belief that everything will be okay.
3:09 - The choice I had to make that could’ve ruined my day
5:07 - How easily things can cascade when one thing goes wrong, if you let it
6:24 - The question to ask yourself when something doesn’t go your way
7:09 - How living from a state of constant, aggravated reaction to events can affect your well-being
8:37 - Practice this if something goes wrong today

You might have big, audacious goals and feel unapologetic about wanting to create an extraordinary life for yourself. I know I want that for myself as well. But are you addicted to doing more, working more, achieving more to the detriment of your health?
Just because you want more doesn’t mean you have to burn yourself out in the process. In fact, rest is my #1 success strategy. So in today’s episode, I really want to discuss why I view it as such and how you can start to look at rest differently.
2:52 - What is your relationship with rest?
3:57 - Why I really struggled to learn how to rest
6:22 - How the past year or so of the pandemic has impacted me and my nervous system
12:16 - Why you need data and can’t just rely on feelings when it comes to stress
14:32 - How I make rest a priority and why I need to go even further
19:24 - Using self-hypnosis as a tool to help settle the nervous system
22:35 - Things you can do to help regulate your nervous system
26:47 - Ten signs of adrenal fatigue to watch out for
35:15 - Taking an inventory of your own life right now

If you’ve been listening for a while, you know I tend to talk a lot about how to care for yourself. Today, I have a special guest on with me to discuss this in a way I’ve never really dove into before.
Cindy Ingram is a former client of mine, as well as a good friend and colleague. As an art lover, former art teacher, and art connection facilitator, Cindy knows that art is a great way to connect with your emotions. I know that, for me, art has become really powerful but not necessarily in the way we think of art.
So in this episode, we delve into emotional fluency and feeling your feelings but through the lens of personal art connection. Cindy even walks me through an interactive exercise where I personally connect with a work of art live, right here on the show!
2:11 - Cindy discusses her deeply emotional connection with art
5:55 - Art’s ability to allow you feel safe in your feelings
7:38 - Using art as a tool to practice self-care
10:54 - The tendency of different forms of art to meet you wherever you are in your life
15:36 - Why even artwork that bores or repels you is worth exploring
19:51 - Approaching self-care and art in a different way
25:17 - A fun exercise where I personally connect with a work of art by Miquel Barceló
36:18 - What’s different for me after doing this exercise
39:09 - Where the real meaning behind any work of art can be found
42:42 - How art can serve as a safety net for hard conversations

Talking about the cycle of relapse sounds dramatic, like I’m talking about an addict in recovery, right? And in a way, that’s not far from the truth, but what do I really mean here? The cycle of relapse is really about understanding behaviors you exhibit that pull you out of alignment with yourself and prevent you from feeling good.
These are your red flag behaviors and they crop up long before you even get to the relapse stage. But it all starts with you being triggered by something. In this episode, I discuss how to uncover and understand your red flag behaviors and even walk you through how I figured out and dealt with some of my own.
5:54 - One of the red flag behaviors I repeated for a very long time
9:32 - How I recently found myself caught up in a whole bunch of red flag behaviors
18:22 - Another red flag behavior of mine (that you probably do too) and what it signifies for me
21:16 - Quick examples of more red flag behaviors people repeat
26:40 - A former red flag behavior of mine regarding money
27:27 - Figuring out your partner’s red flag behaviors and discovering your own

I recorded this episode the same week Facebook and Instagram went lights out. Some people went into a bit of a tailspin over the downtime, but for me it was an awesome day! There was nothing to do but just be completely present in my life.
Your experience might have been different though. Did you find yourself feeling fearful and anxious? Did you struggle to figure out what to do when you kept reaching for your phone to check social media, only to remember it wasn’t available?
One thing I often hear from women is about the lack of time they have to do the things they want. But I’m here to tell you, it’s never a time problem. It’s a priority problem, and too many people have made Facebook and Instagram such big priorities that they’ve become addicted. So in this episode, I want to talk about the opportunity the social media blackout presented, one which invited us to look at where we spend our time and energy.
1:58 - Why Facebook’s downtime didn’t impact me or my business
3:56 - How to figure out exactly how you spend your time
7:07 - A reminder of why you don’t have to be on social media every day
8:26 - The difference between numbing vs. intentional behavior
11:28 - The innocence of a time before social media addiction

Goal setting has a dark side to it that people don’t talk about. It’s why so many of us struggle in the aftermath of attaining a goal. We can end up creating a whole host of problems for ourselves if we’re unaware. So in this episode, I want to share my thoughts and experiences with the dark side of setting and achieving goals, why we set goals, and why so many of us go backwards after achieving them.
4:19 - Why goal setting is never really about the outcome
4:48 - How I’ve struggled to deal with the lows after my WBFF show
6:11 - The reason why so many of my clients set goals one right after the other
7:22 - Why I grieved when I finally paid off my debt
9:26 - Working towards vs. away from something
11:09 - Where the lessons from achieving your goals hide
17:50 - Honoring the time period after attaining a goal
19:40 - Why you keep repeating patterns when attempting to achieve a goal like weight loss

A while back, I did an episode about my alter ego Tylere and even read a bit from the document I created for her back in 2016. When I wrote that document, I couldn’t see how it’d come to fruition, nor did I really believe it ever would. But after my WBFF show, I realize that I’ve fully embraced and become that alter ego to the point where I don’t even need one anymore. Today I want to talk a little bit about your alter ego and using it to serve you and help you move forward.
3:06 - The biggest selling point of writing your alter ego document
4:35 - Why red lipstick came to symbolize my alter ego
7:33 - Example questions to think about as you consider your alter ego
12:02 - The commonality between your alter ego and dressing up as a kid
15:07 - How I reminded myself to ask what my alter ego would do in situations
16:21 - What my alter ego allowed me to understand about myself
20:25 - The only difference between you and me

As I record this episode, we’re five weeks past my debut on the WBFF stage. So how did it go? For one thing, it really pushed the boundaries of what I was comfortable with to help me grow leaps and bounds. Today is kind of a debrief of the show.
