When it comes to changing weight and body composition, too many women have unrealistic expectations and a very disordered relationship with their body and food. I follow someone on Instagram who’ll be at the upcoming World Beauty Fitness and Fashion show, and she did a story around competition prep and dieting that I really appreciated and thought was important to share. So in today’s episode, I talk about why you shouldn’t treat show prep as a pathway to weight loss.

6:07 - How show prep can perpetuate more suffering if you’re in it for the wrong reason
8:14 - Where your body transformation really starts
9:53 - How to protect yourself when faced with triggering factors about your body
11:11 - The place where you’ll most often find your weight loss results

Are you comfortable saying no to people when you want to? Or do you take on things you don’t want so that others won’t call you a b*@? Your energy is your #1 priority, but lacking boundaries leaks it from you like a sieve. It’s your responsibility to plug in the holes.
So in this episode, I talk you through setting clear boundaries and share some of my own stories. I also cover how to deal with your guilt and other people’s reactions when you draw that uncrossable line in the sand. The reward waiting for you on the other side is not only worth it but also serves as a stepping stone toward having a wonderful relationship with yourself first!

Have you suffered from a chronic injury that won’t heal no matter what methods you try? How relieved would you feel to be free of the constant ache and worry that you’re destined to live out the rest of your life this way? All it might take to heal your chronic pain is an emotional shift.
Today, I’ve brought on a very special guest Jake Currie, founder of Mind Body Masters. Originally a chiropractor, he quit and sold his successful practice in 2018. Contending with unexplained chronic pain and injuries all his life, he's dedicated himself to understanding the causes of pain, how to eliminate them, and helping others heal from the inside out.
I’m a beneficiary of his work firsthand. In this episode, he and I discuss uncovering the emotional specifics behind your chronic condition and how you have the power to heal yourself physically and emotionally.
7:14 - How Jake discovered German New Medicine and healed his groin pain
11:21 - Why the reemergence of my old hamstring injury became a turning point in my life
15:12 - The devastating effect that chronic stress has on your muscles and joints

24:53 - An analogy that demonstrates how pain in your body works for your benefit

31:35 - Why most people falsely believe that pain is purely physical
33:43 - What so many of the women I see don’t recognize about their weight
34:36 - The state people fall into that becomes a distraction and a full-time job

Many of you who’ve worked with me or listened to this podcast see me as this confident, empowered woman who always has her shit together. Yet, I still face struggles that can undermine my own growth.
One of my biggest challenges involves the upcoming World Beauty Fitness & Fashion (WBFF) show in Las Vegas. In eight weeks, I’ll be walking on its stage as a contestant. It’s a goal of mine that’s been two-and-a-half years in the making.
But twice now I’ve had to confront a fear in my preparation for it. In this episode, I talk about my challenge and how the fear underneath it reflects the subtle yet toxic belief of so many women that stops us from evolving past our comfort zone.
4:24 - One big challenge I faced during my preparation for the WBFF contest
5:44 - How my client called me out on my own bull
7:21 - How I plan to show up on that WBFF Vegas stage now
9:14 - The belief that causes so many women to secretly sabotage themselves
10:45 - Why shame keeps you trapped in addictive behaviors
13:07 - How to begin to unravel your own self-sabotage

In the U.S., 73.69% of the population is considered overweight or obese. In Canada, that number is 63% of the population. Those numbers are staggering and trouble me, especially in light of the pandemic where your chances of hospitalization for COVID triple. And that’s not to mention the myriad of other health issues you have to worry about, pandemic or no pandemic.
If you’ve been tuning into this podcast for a while, you know that a significant portion of my career has been focused on the physical well-being of the people I work with. And while I’ve moved away from concentrating solely on weight, I do want to talk about weight today, the problems it causes, taking personal responsibility for your health, and why it matters.
4:47 - Health traps and food conveniences many of us have fallen into
10:57 - What you really tell yourself with restrictive stories about getting healthier
16:06 - The #1 strategy for creating success and better health
18:13 - Your health and yourself at age 70, 80, or 90
22:16 - Getting help if you’re doing the right things but your body isn’t changing
26:58 - Seeing your body as a way to reflect your own feelings back at you

Today, I’m so excited to introduce you to a dear client of mine, Belinda Smith. She has an impressive resume, but I wanted her on the show because her vision and mission and mission is so in alignment with the physical and emotional well-being I talk about on this podcast.
As a mom and health coach, she’s one the leading independent voices for children’s health in Australia and a fierce proponent for real food in schools. She and her husband have spent over two years traveling around Australia visiting hundreds of schools and empowering kids to choose healthier eating. But she’s also all about making it easier for parents to make better food choices to inspire their kids to do the same.
6:27 - Why Belinda feels so passionate about this
12:25 - Many women don’t trust themselves with food
21:18 - Stored memories and how they affect our relationship with food
24:56 - How we grow out of knowing how to eat as adults
29:06 - Belinda discusses a family before and after joining her membership

Choice is such a powerful concept when you understand that in every moment of every day, you have the power to choose. So in this episode, I discuss the power of choice, something so many struggle with and something I hope you’ll come to understand.
3:46 - How I still allow room for choice in my pre-planned decisions

I felt intuitively drawn to do an interview with someone I’ve had the pleasure of working with before. Emma Jensen and I connected thanks to Human Design, a system through which you can know yourself better and have a blueprint for your authentic self underneath all the social conditioning you’ve experienced.
In Human Design terms, Emma is what’s called a Projector type. Today, she’s here to explain what Human Design is and the benefits you can derive from it, all 5 types and their Not-Self themes, and some basics of the heart and emotional centers in the system.
4:06 - What Human Design is and what you need to generate your own chart
8:59 - The Reflector type, the only one who can truly step in others shoes
10:43 - The Projector type, who is here to guide others but only when invited
13:34 - Not-Self themes for Reflectors and Projectors and what they indicate
17:35 - The Manifestor, the only type meant to initiate things, and their Not-Self theme
21:53 - The Generator, who has sustainable energy (with caveats), and their Not-Self theme
25:07 - The Manifesting Generator, a mixture of two types, and their Not-Self theme
26:53 - Lessons I’ve learned as a Manifesting Generator in business
28:49 - Traits of having a defined or undefined heart center
38:33 - Traits of the gates within the heart center when defined or undefined
41:49 - What it means to have an undefined solar plexus center
49:00 - What it means to have a defined solar plexus center
54:18 - The meaning of the arrows at the top of the Human Design chart

I like to call many of you who listen to this podcast “controllers”. You’re very self-sufficient, know how to get things done, and do things for everyone else. In fact, you believe you know what’s best in other people’s lives. I used to be the same way as well.
We’re being asked to make big decisions these days that may or may not impact us and those around us long-term. But at the end of the day, everyone is responsible for their own choices and the consequences of such. So today’s episode is all about the freedom to choose and allowing it for others as we all move forward, in all areas of life.
4:01 - Riding a wave of emotion lately and feeling grief and gratitude
9:39 - A passage about love from a book I bought recently and why it hit me so hard
14:05 - Importance of releasing attachment to others’ decision-making, especially kids
