Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been going in and out of this phase of feeling really flat. I’ve been feeling sad, uninspired, frustrated, sometimes even angry and haven’t felt super inspired to do anything--not be on social media putting out content or consuming others, nor being inspired to write. In fact, I’ve only felt like showing up for my clients and the group I facilitate. Despite not feeling like recording this episode, my mastermind reminded me today of a promise I made: to talk about the gnarly bits of life as well. So I’m discussing how to get over the COVID-induced wall we’ve all hit at some point or another.
3:04 - The impact of a missing connection with women I’m close to
6:37 - What I want you to know about what you’re feeling
9:19 - What creates our suffering and the place you can always go back to
15:43 - The easiest way to acknowledge and shift your emotions
19:13 - Why you want to process your feelings before you’re forced to

I hear all the time from my clients, “I should have...” over and over. The truth is we don’t know what we don’t know until we know it. We all have blind windows. So when you start telling yourself you should have done this or that, it’s an opportunity for you to pay attention and look at the stories you’re telling yourself. In this short but sweet episode, I talk about why should-ing on yourself makes no sense and is actually detrimental to you.
2:25 - How should-ing contributes to criticism and self-abuse
5:44 - What to do in the moments when the “shoulds” show up

Today’s topic is something I’m super passionate about, and I think it gets a lot of people confused along the way. You’ve probably heard me say, “Let it be easy” but at the same time we still have to do hard things. So we’re going to dive into doing difficult things today. (And on an important side note: I’m celebrating my podcast hitting a major milestone -- 100,000 downloads! Thanks to all my listeners who’ve helped make this possible).
6:09 - Why I really want to talk about this subject
9:32 - The uncomfortable things we face when doing something hard
14:25 - Shifting my energy to allow resting to feel easier instead of torturous

So many are very much attached to their identities of who they think they are. It might be an identity about your body, weight, relationships--things you literally tell yourself that you can’t stop doing. I have a very special guest today who you’ve probably heard me talk about before and who’s been a guest on the show prior. More than anybody I know, my husband Macey has really changed some massive habits in his life. For nine years now, he has been sober! So in this episode, he and I are going to talk a little about his recovery and developing new habits to create a new identity for yourself.
4:42 - Macey letting go of his past history
10:05 - How he tracked his progress in recovery
15:04 - Staying committed to sobriety and maintaining new habits
20:47 - Our ability to transform and create new identities
22:20 - Numbing habits to avoid feelings and doubling down on habit stacking
33:17 - Why people struggle with establishing new habits

I really want to bring you behind-the-scenes and share part of my life I’ve shared before but in a different way. I closed my last live launch to Weight Loss from Within yesterday, and for the entire week I’ve been feeling a little sad and off, even had hints of anger at times. But this morning I came to realize that today is the anniversary of a very profound day in my life. So often we don’t recognize how much our past is still impacting us, even if we’re not still emotionally tied to it. In this episode, I talk about the catalyst for my huge transformation nine years ago and where I plan to go from here.
3:57 - The huge realization I had by checking my Facebook account today
7:01 - An invitation to listen to your wake-up call starting right now
11:00 - What I plan to do to make sure that this time next year feels joyful

Initially, I didn't intend to share this, but it’s so good that I had to. I recently retired my Weight Loss From Within program, despite it still doing really well, because I don’t want to focus on just weight loss anymore. To be in integrity with my work, I must ensure that I’m talking about the importance of caring for your physical and emotional well-being, not just specifically focused on how to lose weight.
In late January, I ran a masterclass and poured my heart and soul into it. I had my team strip out the coaching portions and just include myself sharing information on how to stop worrying about your weight, love your body, and take control of your health. So without further ado, enjoy the masterclass!
10:00 - The problem with focusing on the problem you think you have
15:07 - Showing up for your body instead of expecting it to show up for you
21:51 - Body follows the mind, so whatever you tell yourself will become your truth
27:09 - Data about your body doesn’t tell you how to feel but allows for better decisions
33:51 - An acronym to write down that’ll help you slow down, pause, and tune in
42:17 - One major strategy you must do to lose weight and choosing your tolerations

When the pandemic hit, my husband and I learned lots of things about homeschooling. But some red flags came up too, particularly with our youngest child. We had to make some really hard decisions about school and what we were going to do. So the pandemic offered us an opportunity to get to know him better, but I was in a whole different land in terms of navigating this and needed some guidance.
That’s where my special guest Sara comes in. She’s a master practitioner who’s been helping people with anxiety for years and years through her work with yoga and ancient practices. But she’s also a mother of a special needs child. I’ve brought her on before to speak about navigating anxiety, including during a pandemic. In this episode, however, we talk about her journey with her autistic son and how she assisted me in taking my power back as a parent.
8:19 - We’re not here to guide our kids as much as they’re here to guide us
16:09 - Why my child was rejected from the recommended school
20:35 - Asking the school for support for your special needs child
28:00 - No need to throw yourself under the bus while advocating for your kids
33:26 - Being an advocate for yourself to better advocate for your kids in the long run
39:02 - Sara discusses the book she’s writing about this journey she never wanted to take
Listen to Sara’s previous interviews here and here.

Today, I’m taking you back in time and pulling an episode out of my archives because it was such an important conversation. I want to make sure you don’t miss this, especially if you’re one of my listeners who’s making the decision to join Weight Loss From Within. In this episode, Allison Taylor shares her journey through the program and how she went from wanting to be thinner, prettier, smarter, and never feeling good enough to feeling more than good enough.
She was constantly in a state of overwhelm, people-pleasing, and perfectionism. Now, she knows how to make herself a priority in her life. She knows how to slow down and makes caring for her physical and emotional well-being a priority. As a mom of two, she’s like so many of you listening to this podcast. To see where she is now from where she was is absolutely mind-blowing!
7:46 - How my relationship with Allison unfolded
15:29 - What the journey through the program was like for Allison
24:08 - Allison shares how much has changed with her daughters
33:13 - The metaphor that I now use for committing to change
39:10 - Allison becoming the best version of herself
44:16 - Being stuck in comparison-itis and putting herself down

Our parents were doing the best they could with what they knew when raising us. But they pass down stories and beliefs that can get in the way of growth and healing. Today, I’m bringing Melissa from Sydney, Australia to the show. She and I discuss how she was before and after connecting with me and her past as a self-critical people pleaser, especially regarding her family. Listen as she recalls her journey around healing both her body and her inner critic.
3:32 - How much of a caretaker Melissa was when she started with me
8:52 - Examples of self-criticism that Melissa internalized
15:30 - Passing the concept of self-love down to the next generation
23:38 - The stigma in Australia around seeking help from a therapist
29:20 - Another huge generational belief that needs dismantling
32:30 - Opening up the lines of communication between couples
